Islamic Gender Studies in Fes, Morocco.

The Center for Islamic Gender Studies, a U.S. based organization located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, runs an exchange program that aims to send American and International students to gender studies workshops in the ancient and beautiful city of Fes, Morocco, a Muslim, multilingual, multicultural, and developing country.

This program is the first of its kind and offers a unique opportunity to study gender and work with women in Morocco. Classes are taught by the same professor who directs the first government approved graduate gender studies program in the Middle East and North Africa.

As part of this pioneering program, we invite students, private individuals, and organizations to attend gender studies workshops.

Morocco Homestay Program

A unique feature of IGSC's programs is our country-wide Moroccan Homestay Service. We provide this service for all travelers and students who wish to visit the country of Morocco. Our purpose in providing this service is to create a deeper understanding and a more meaningful exchange between Moroccan and western culture. Homestays with Moroccan families and students entail room and board for a fixed fee and provide a window into family life in Morocco.

Foreign Exchange Program / Overseas Research

Western universities are invited to develop foreign exchange programs and conduct research with full use of our facilities in Morocco. For more information contact our International Programs Director, John Immel, at genderstudies@jimmel.com.
